Here is my experience:

Ok so I didn't get to taste all the wines but I did get to make my own wineYou even get to add a back label...check my secret recipe ;)The tasting room is literally on the dam :)Plus there is plenty of space for the kids to run around, including a jungle gym.Inside the tasting room, you will get to taste the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Shiraz.Then it is up to you to mix the different wines in the tester tube according to your desired percentages.I chose 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Shiraz.You can then pour the test tube into your glass and sip to ensure that the taste is just right.This is the wine deck which is quite spacious.Once you are happy with your blend, you will be given a bottle to begin your own mixing.There is a measuring plate so that you can pour just the right amount straight out of the barrel.This is Leigh van den Berg from the popular blog, Lip Gloss is my Life. Read her blog post HERE to find out what she labelled her wine!We were all rather proud of our wine labels :) What would yours say?Here is the wine list where you can purchase a bottle of red wine for only R52.50 and white for R43.50. excelsior-cellar-door-pricelist. After the wine tasting, we enjoyed some lunch at the Graze @ Excelsior Deli.The menu ranged from salads, sandwiches, burgers and even lamb curry! It was all reasonably priced ranging from R50-R100.After lunch, we hopped onto this tractor for a tour of the vineyards...No I am joking, it was on the back of a bakkie but still, we were in HEELS :) Leigh was rocking leopard print and leather and I looked like I was wearing a pirate hat - Classic! We must have been quite a site.It didn't stop there - I then did my very first hike in heels. I love hiking...but in HEELS?! I will come better prepared next time ;)In the photo below is Peter de Wet, the owner of the farm, who was explaining the landscape to us. We had a bit of a giggle because he owned pretty much everything that the light touches :)Peter was born into wine making. The de Wet family have been farming and making wine on Excelsior for over 150 years – Peter is the 5^th generation. Their "brother" farm is Arabella just down the road.The views of the valley were worth my balancing act in heels. You can see the entire valley from up here! <3The vineyards were looking magnificent and the ride up to the top of the mountain took about 15 minutes.    Thanks Peter, I hope to visit again soon.x
