No. 3 Asara - Stellenbosch

Asara Wine Estate is a hidden gem in Stellenbosch not far away from Spier. It is not only a Wine Estate but is also a Hotel and restaurant. The views are really amazing so if you do plan to visit, be sure to make a day of it and go for lunch at the restaurant too.Asara Wine Estate Stellenbosch viewThe wine tasting centre is indoors overlooking a chandelier light cellar. A pitty that you cannot see the breathtaking views from here. It feels rather dark and cold, with no fire place. I would recommend keeping this visit for the warmer summer months. Each tasting cost R50 for five wines and comes with complimentary seed crackers.Asara Wine Cellar Chandelier  IMG_8421Asara have quite a good selection of red, white, rose wines and even an MCC. There are some pretty good value for money wines but there is also a bottle for R1500! I was lucky enough to taste it and it was AMAZING but was not prepared to take out a second home loan ;)Asara wine selection  Asara wines price listThis Bordeaux blend wine, The Bell Tower 2012, has got to be one of my favourite red blends yet. It is a beautiful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. At R250 a bottle, it is well worth it.CWHM6041If you are a fan of bubbly Brut, then you should try this elegant Asara MCC 2007. Expect green apple aromas with hints of citrus and roasted almonds. At R125 a bottle, you have reason to celebrate!Asara MCC 2007Wine farms near by include Spier, Brenaissance and JC Le Roux.
