A bubbly affair at Season of Sauvignon, Durbanville Hills
I was in for a bubbly treat at my second wine festival for the last weekend of October. The Season of Sauvignon Festival at Durbanville Hills. #thiscitysparkles They put their own spin on it and called it Bubbles and Blanc in celebration of the launch of their new Sauvignon Blanc Sparkling Wine.According to Martin Moore, cellar master at Durbanville Hills, the award-winning winemaking team has spent the past few years perfecting a sparkling wine that has the ability to transform any moment into a memorable event. “We are extremely excited to introduce South Africans to the newest member of the Durbanville Hills family.”The 2016 Durbanville Hills Sparkling wine is now available from the cellar door, as well as selected Food Lovers Market, various restaurants and online from the Vinoteque. R75 a bottle. These were the tickets that came with your entry into the festival. It allowed you 8 free tastings which was plenty! There were quite a few wine tasting bars like the ones below, so there were never really any queues.Plus there was a very elegant bubbly bar!And photo booth. Now because this is Durbanville - the suburbs - the kiddies were catered for too and were spoilt with activities including lego, a jumping castle, jungle gym, rides and colouring in activities. Durbanville Hills was really prepared for the crowds and had plenty of seating too. We got stuck right in with tattoos...And oysters! You certainly could not go hungry with all the food stalls on offer...The views were pretty good from the upstairs deck. And whilst I sipped on more bubbly......there was some really great live entertainment. By this stage, everyone was dancing and singing! What a fantastic atmosphere.Again, this view just takes my breath away.Wine, wine and more wine! And in case you didn't want any more wine, there was beer on tap too... What a great way to spend a Sunday! For more information on the next Season of Sauvignon Festival (which always happens on the last weekend of October) visit the Durbanville Hills website: https://www.durbanvillehills.co.za/Or the Durbanville Wine valley website: http://www.durbanvillewine.co.za/See you next year!
