New restaurant in Franschhoek: Franks Corner Bar & Grill

You've got to try this new restaurant in Franschhoek called Franks Corner Bar & Grill. It brings a fresh perspective to this historic village, offering a contemporary take on American cuisine.

A Passion Project with Local Flavor

Frank Rodriguez, an American entrepreneur who found his home in Franschhoek and his close friend and acclaimed chef Reuben Riffel, envisioned Franks as more than just a restaurant in Franschhoek. It's a celebration of their love for the valley and its people. Joined by business partner Alex McCormack, they embarked on a journey to create a space that reflects their shared passion for good food and hospitality.

Renovation and Reinvention: Crafting an Inviting Space

Before opening its doors in December 2023, Franks underwent a year of meticulous renovation. Architect Suzanne Schekman and interior designer Francois du Plessis collaborated to infuse the space with warmth and comfort. The result? A double-volume dining room adorned with wooden floors, leather banquettes, and bespoke furniture, creates an inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy.

Elevated Dining, Accessible Experience

Franks sets itself apart by offering elevated cuisine without the pretence. Unlike the typical marathon tasting menus, Franks focuses on delivering quality dishes at an accessible price point. Rodriguez emphasizes the importance of value-oriented, fresh, and simple food, steering away from extravagant dining experiences.

New-Style American Cuisine: A Culinary Journey

Led by Riffel and Executive Chef Aviv Liebenberg, the menu at Franks showcases a fusion of traditional and contemporary American flavours. From small plates perfect for sharing to hearty mains, each dish tells a story of culinary diversity. Whether it's the classic Corn Dog or the succulent 'Nashville' Hot Chicken, there's something to tantalize every palate.

Attention to Detail: Crafting Memorable Plates

At Franks, simplicity meets sophistication. While some dishes may seem straightforward, every element is carefully curated to ensure a burst of flavour in every bite. From hand-cut chips to house-made condiments, the dedication to quality ingredients shines through in every aspect of the dining experience.

Craft Beer Pairings and More

While wine is a staple for restaurants in Franschhoek, Franks takes pride in its selection of craft beers, courtesy of The Franschhoek Beer Company. With a range of brews available on tap, guests can indulge in tasting trays or explore flavoured seltzers for a refreshing twist.
