Perdeberg Wines in Paarl has Delicious Braai Picnics

Perdeberg Wines in Paarl is my 135th winery visit in South Africa. Perdeberg is actually a co-op winery with a HUGE production and maturation room facility, buying in grapes and making wine for contract clients.

They, therefore, have quite a big network of grape growers to make some amazing wines. They are quite big on sustainability and their dryland viticulture practices use minimal water to conserve South Africa's natural resources. All red wines are also vegan-friendly as no animal by-products are used in the production process of these wines.

Perdeberg eco friendly

They have a fabulous outside area and on saturdays have a kids area which includes a jumping castle. There is plenty of seating under the trees and umbrellas however booking is still recommended - it can get quite popular, especially on weekends.

Perdeberg Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is R50 for 5 wines. They also have some unique food and wine pairings that change on a regular basis but you can definitely count on a chocolate pairing at R110, dried fruit pairing at R110 or even a kiddies pairing at R45.

Perdeberg winery wine range wine tasting

Perdeberg has many different ranges to choose from. Below were some of the wines I tasted. The Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Cinsault, Pinotage, Endura Chenin and Rex Equus. The Endura and Rex Equus is normally not for tasting but for some reason the bottles were already open so I got a sneaky taste.

Perdeberg Wines also has a new "light hearted" range which is low in alcohol and is only R50 a bottle. Super great value for money and oh so pretty labels.

Perdeberg Wines Blending Experience

On a previous visit, I was fortunate enough to try the wine blending experience. We were given different types of red wine and could blend them to make our own special blend which is then labelled with our own name. Chat to Perdeberg to see if they can arrange this activity for your group. It is highly recommended and would make a great team-building exercise.

The Restaurant

The Braai Picnic is by far the most popular. It is R450 for two people to share and for kids, R175. There are also some amazing wood-fired pizzas available as well as an a la carte menu.

In Conclusion

I would highly recommend Perdeberg Winery for large groups of families with kids. Perdeberg can literally host anything from 2 people up to 20 people. The best days to go is definitely summer and on a Saturday when the jumping castle is up for the kids. Booking is a must, especially when you want the braai picnics.
