149 of 800: Mimosa Fine Wines in Montagu, South Africa

Upon my visit to Montagu, I simply HAD to visit the new Blu Vines District, tasting room of Mimosa Wines which is newly opened. Luckily I stayed at the divine Monte Vista Boutique Hotel in Church street which is right up the road. This is my 149th winery visit in South Africa.

The Mimosa Fine Wines Tasting room

The tasting room is small but packs so much glam in there. Featuring a massive chandelier, gold leaf walls and a wine display that curves all the way up to the ceiling. The opulence reminds me of Dubai and what's more, is that there are concrete eggs filled with wine in the room too. I have to say well done on decor! It's fab!

Wine tasting is R50 for four wines featuring two whites (Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay) and two reds (Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz). I quite like that all the wines are poured upfront so you can go back and forth at your own leisure.

Mimosa also produces a brandy of which I simply had to taste! They only produce three barrels and the brandy has been matured in French oak for 5 years. Absolutely delicious!

There are more wines in the range which you can enquire about with the lovely host.

The Food at Blu Vines

After the wine tasting, I walked across to the new restaurant which is also such a treat for the eyes!
