150 of 800: Nuy on the Hill Winery in Worcester, South Africa
Nuy on the Hill is the MUST-stop destination for lunch when you are on the way to Robertson or Montagu via route 66. Besides the FREE wine tasting, they have a really great menu offering fresh oysters, pizza and a range of desserts.
Wine Tasting at Nuy on the Hill
Wine Tasting at Nuy on the Hill is FREE!
Simply walk up to the wine bar and select 5 wines to taste at your leisure. I quite liked it that although I was sitting at the restaurant, I could break it up with a wine tasting and then go back to the table for dessert and coffee afterwards.
Their Pinotage is definitely the best out of their range for me, as you can also see they received an award at the Old Mutual Trophy wine show awards. The wines range in price from R55 to R125 a bottle which is really a very good price! As each wine is poured, a brief explanation on the wine is given.
They have recently launched a Merlot which you can read about here: https://thewinegirlcapetown.co.za/nuy-winery-merlot-2018-is-a-delicious-everyday-wine/
The Restaurant at Nuy on the Hill
The restaurant is quite big with a large inside and outside area which is perfect for small groups or larger groups, come rain or sunshine. I also noticed that the restaurant is dog friendly offering blankets for guests to sit on the lawn with their trusted companion. I also noticed that they had high chairs for babies.
The outside area is also absolutely lovely!
Besides the amazing food, Nuy on the Hill also has a little gift shop featuring some local finds like earrings.
Ultimately the best part is the views!

In Conclusion
I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Nuy on the Hill. I would recommend this place for groups of 4 - 6 people on a sunny day for pizza and wine or oysters and bubbly. This restaurant is VERY popular so make sure you book in advance or you will be waiting in a queue.
If you are looking for accommodation in the area or to simply visit another winery for a tasting, try Leipzig.
Until next time
Much wine love
Leanne
