PIZZA AND CAP CLASSIQUE HEAVEN AT LINTON WINES IN WELLINGTON

Said to be the place of origin for the "Fourie" family tree in South Africa, Linton Park Wines in Wellington dates back to 1699! Today, the winery is owned by an internationally listed company called Camellia Plc which has taken much care in restoring the winery.

Along with sustainable farming ethics, Linton Park has also partnered with the charity organization "Rhinos Without Borders" so as to make a yearly donation to the conservation of Rhinos. Funding is raised by the sales of their Rhino range of wines.

The Location

Linton Park Wines borders the town of Wellington, about an hour's drive from Cape Town City Central, South Africa. This winery is a great stop for a light lunch as they have delicious pizzas and refreshing MCC at an affordable price! The kitchen closes at 14h30 though so ensure you get there early.

Linton Park Wines have their own vineyards reaching 500m in altitude which is quite high plus has an on-site cellar. I was quite interested in sampling their Sauvignon Blanc as the vines are on the highest slopes. A must try!

The indoor area for tasting wine is rather clinical, so plan on a sunny day so that you can sit outside and enjoy nature at its finest. There isn't a jungle gym for kids but there is a large grass area where they can run around.

Linton Park Wine Tasting

You will be spoilt for choice with the range of wines on offer for tasting. Linton has 6 wine ranges ranging from everyday value to premium. I rather enjoyed their estate range label called "Cafe Cabernet" which had a sort of dark cherry/coffee characteristics. I also thoroughly enjoyed their MCC (not up for tasting but if they do have in stock, you can definitely enjoy a bottle on ice). The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Uncorked Restaurant

The restaurant on-site is called "Uncorked". It has more of a bistro type style menu with light lunch options on offer. As it is a small kitchen, expect a laid back service but good value. The Pizzas offer great value for money at around R100 a pizza and the wines are also around that price.

Booking is not required but is always advised to avoid disappointment.

Tasting Room Hours: Mondays-Fridays from 09:00-16:30. Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 10:00-15:00.

Uncorked Hours (Light Lunches): Tuesdays-Sundays 11:00-14:30
