FAMILY FRIENDLY FAVOURITE AT DUNSTONE WINES IN WELLINGTON
Dunstone Wines was named after a UK farm where current owners, Lee and Abbi were engaged. They purchased this estate in August 2002 when they fell in love with South Africa and have since grown the portfolio to not only produce wine but also offer a restaurant and accommodation portfolio too.
The location
Dunstone Wines is in Wellington, about an hour's drive outside of Cape Town. The restaurant and wine tasting area is really quite massive and boasts a rather amazing kiddies entertainment area (inside and outside). On a fine summer's day, you can enjoy the sunshine outside on the porch or on a winter's day, snuggle up by the fireplace.
Dunstone Wine Tasting
Taste 3 wines for around R20 or 5 wines for around R30. The wines are poured for you and explained all at one which is great for quick service. I rather enjoyed the Shiraz 2016 which had 30% whole bunch fermentation and spent 12 months in french oak barrels with 30% being new oak. It was R190 a bottle. Afterwards, it was quite convenient to stay for lunch.
Restaurant
The restaurant menu is rather quite extensive and I thoroughly enjoyed the beef burger - especially the onion rings! Delicious! Overall, the service was very friendly however this is a family restaurant with many tables so don't expect super fast service, this is a great place to relax for the day.
Accommodation
Something has to be said about the wonderful accommodation in the Dunstone portfolio. Choose from a country escape, beachside bliss or city charm. To learn more about the Dunstone Accommodation offers, visit: http://dunstone.co.za/dunstone-country-estate/
I had a great time at this stunning family estate.
So which wine farm is next?
