My first time exploring the Constantia Wine Route and I think I started at the right place!  Beau Constantia is number 86 of 800!Beau Constantia Wine TastingThe Constantia wine valley is the oldest wine producing region in the Southern Hemisphere, Beau Constantia however planted vineyards for the first time on this property in 2002. Prior 2000, the land consisted mainly of pine trees and goats until a large fire devastated the land.Today, Beau Constantia produces Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Shiraz and Petit Verdot.BOOKINGS & WINE TASTINGS: Taste 5 wines for just R50. Plus, if you Tweet or post your experience to Social Media - show the waiters. You will get a complimentary glass of MCC. Remember to book before hand, this is a very popular winery and seating is limited.WHEN TO GO:  Suitable for the summer or winter months but I would say better in the summer months (November – March).LENGTH OF VISIT: One hour is plenty unless you stay for lunch.RESTAURANT: Yes - Chef's Warehouse - a fine dining experience with is highly awarded.OTHER AMENITIES: There is a "loo with a view", amphitheatre and is part of the Red Bus tour.ACCOMMODATION: Yes however these properties are rented out to tenants and are only available exclusively upon request.GOOD FOR KIDS/PETS? Definitely not. This winery exudes opulence and sophistication.LARGER OR SMALL GROUPS? Best for groups of 4 or 6 people. They do also have an "events" section which is popular for kitchen teas / birthdays.LOCATION: About a 15 minute drive from Cape Town City Centre in Constantia. You can take the Cape Town Hop on Hop off bus. Beau Constantia Google Maps Directions.OTHER RATINGS: Find out what others have to say on the Beau Constantia Review Page.

Here is my experience:

The farm is situated right by the big circle which boarders the end of Constantia and the start of Hout Bay.  Blink and you will miss the entrance. As a tip if you are taking the red bus, you can walk from the drop off where they ask you change busses to the wine bus. You don't need to get into a bus if you want to make this your first stop. There isn't much parking so I would recommend an Uber. Also, the walk to the tasting room is quite steep so it is best for a car to drop you off if you can.
Also, do yourself a favour and visit the "loo with a view". Promise, no one can see you, but you can literally see the whole of Cape Town while you pee.Beau Constantia room with a viewBack at the tasting room, there is a great section to hire out for events. It's very popular with birthdays and kitchen teas ladies!Lastly, be sure to ask to meet the Tasting Room Manager - Johann. He's a gem and is the driving force behind most of the Marketing and even some of the product including his involvement in making this Vodka! This Vodka has 23ct gold leaf in it and is a Bea Constantia collaboration with Guy Munton, private artisanal distillery. It's R375 a bottle which is really good value for a "craft" type vodka which is infused with Naartjie, Saffron and BergamotWe had a great time and I'm sure you will too. Cheers!
