Haskell is the first South African winery since the introduction of the Tri-Nations Challenge to win Best Syrah, Best Red Wine and Best Wine of the Show in the 2009 competition, where the finest wines of South Africa compete against others in Australia and New Zealand.Haskell has an interesting women in wine story. Rianie Strydom is the General Manager and Winemaker at Haskell Vineyards since the beginning in 2005. She worked previously at Morgenhof wines for 10 years. If the surname sounds familiar, she is married to Louis Strydom who is also a winemaker at Ernie Els. Rianie was the first female member in recent years to be invited to join the prestigious Cape Winemakers Guild and is still only one of two women in the Guild. Here’s my experience:

Haskell is situated in a security complex sharing land with neighboring farms. You will need to sign in and drive about 5 mins through the vineyards in order to get to the parking area.It's not a long walk to the tasting area.You will walk through the restaurant to get to the wine tasting area situated to the right side of the restaurant.The new decor is outstanding! I absolutely love the bar area and the magnificent blue velvet couch. I noticed that there were ramps for wheel chairs.

Afterwards I took a short walk to the cellar. the estate is really picturesque. And then took some photos in the vineyards. I had a great time and I am sure you will too!So which farm is next? :)xoxo
