Here is my experience:
What a total country getaway experience! The smell of "Braaivleis" is definitely what hits you first, so come HUNGRY!I started off with an unwooded Chardonnay 2016 which has just been released. Good body with a delightfully fruity, lingering dry taste. The cutlery for the braai is served to you in a basket just like this :)The farm had a great range of white and red wines and the setting was super country! Love it! This "potbroodt" is what you get as a starter! Paired wonderfully with a Pinotage Merlot. Middelvlei produces some excellent Chardonnay and Pinotage! And this is where all the magic happens - at the braai.Which results in all of this for two people!I was welcomed by Ben Momberg, owner of the farm who took us on a cellar tour.We tasted some of the wines straight from the tank - oh how lovely! And even from the barrels too! Divine!Middelvlei had just harvested their Pinotage grapes which were still undergoing fermentation with punch downs daily.Did you know that you can book a wine blending experience with Middelvlei? The cellar was built in 1941 so you can still see many of the old concrete vats.Just outside the cellar is a cute zoo for the kids to marvel at.This farm is so great for the kids to explore nature.Inside the tasting room is a great area to taste wines when it is too cold to sit outside.I particularly like that fire place area. Very relaxed and casual. We had this lovely peppermint crisp dessert to end off our meal. And coffee straight from the heat of the fire. Delicious!I certainly enjoyed my visit and will be back with the family for sure!So which farm will be next? :)x
