No. 8 Delaire Graff Estate - Stellenbosch

Wine farm number 8 is Delaire Graff Estate in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa. The gardens are immaculate! Even though it is winter! The warmer climate in the Summer months makes it perfect to grow Cabernet Franc here. As you can see, I visited in winter 😉This is not just a wine farm but an entire estate complete with Lodge, Spa, restaurant, diamond store and even a helipad! This is the wine tasting room. Parked in front, you will see a golf cart which is to help guests get around this huge estate.Beautiful Asian inspired architecture. This is the tasting room. Say hi to Tish, my best friend and an amazing photographer! 😄And to this adorable couple! Delaire Graff do provide coloring in paper and crayons for kids.R50 for three tastings. I chose the Rosé, Shiraz and Botmaskop 😉🍷To learn more about the wines, click HERE. Do you love Chardonnay and cheese? I do! 😋 Especially this Delaire Graff Chardonnay 2015 which has spent 10 months in French oak barrels. It's not too woody at all and pairs perfectly with cheese. 👌 Enjoy rich lemony citrus fruit with undertones of honeycomb, peaches and butterscotch adding to a lasting finish. R160 a bottle. The cheese platter was R145. Delicious!Their dry Rosé 2016 is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes with 4 hours skin contact and 3-6 weeks fermentation in the same style as Sauvignon Blanc. A beautiful blush color with hints of strawberries and candyfloss. A crisp, dry finish. R95 a bottle. My favourite wine here is this Shiraz 2015.Firstly the colour is beautiful, almost purple! Then the aromas hit you - lavender and dark fruit. Finally, you will be surprised how smooth it is! Full bodied with a white pepper finish. Loved it! R115 a bottle.I really enjoyed chatting to Monica. She knows her wine and made sure that my glass was never empty 😄 Exceptional service!IMG_0132               Monica highly recommends the Delaire Graff Botmaskop. It is named after the mountain at the back of the Estate. It is a Bordeaux blend with classic aromas of dark berry fruit, spice and cassis. Beautiful soft tannins. A well balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Each having spent 18 months in french oak barrels.👌R225 a bottle.Delaire means "from the sky" and you can see why!If you love art then Morphous by Lionel Smit is a must see! Amongst many other statues and paintings at Delaire Graff Estate. Now if you can afford to spend R50 000 a night, then you should book yourself into heaven - the Delaire Graff Lodge and Spa!This is the reception area. 😍There are 10 Lodges and the views are exquisite! Just look at this pool with jacuzzi! It overlooks the entire Stellenbosch valley and you can see as far as Table Mountain! Can you imagine the sunsets!I wouldn't mind walking up in this bed 😍With that view!Imagine enjoying this personal pool and massive bathroom 😍I was very lucky to be shown the wine cellar too. It is incredibly modern and in pristine condition! This is the top level and there are three levels.I was sad to leave! We were really well looked after by Tobias who drove us around the Estate in his golf cart.He has been working at Delaire Graff for seven years. Apparently Mr. Graff is an incredibly good man 😊98% service89% food81% wine96% locationOverall rating = 91%Ranking: 1Not recommended for children however there are colouring in activities.Good for any group of people (2-12 people).Booking is recommended: Telephone: +27 21 885 8160  |  Email: info@delaire.co.zaGreat in Summer or Winter.https://www.instagram.com/p/BIQJZbugDIk/?taken-by=thewinegirlcapetown
