Discovering the three "T's" at Druk My Niet in Paarl
Druk my Niet winery in Paarl is my 133rd winery visit in South Africa. This is a fantastic, family-run boutique winery producing some amazing chenin, Tempranillo, Tinta Amerela and Tannat. "Druk my Niet" roughly translates to "take me as I am".
I was fortunate enough to not only meet the winemaker for a wine tasting but also to stay for two nights in one of the cottages.
Druk My Niet Wine Tasting
Wine tasting is by appointment only and is R100 per person. One can also arrange cheese and meat platters with prior arrangement. The tasting room takes you through the barrel maturation cellar before being seated onlooking the beautiful views of the Paarl valley. Each wine is explained in professional detail.
I met up with the winemaker, Marcus Milner who is pictured below, showing the "T box" which houses 4 wines... the Tempranillo, Tinta Amerela, Tannat and a blend of the three. They were fantastic!
There was quite a range of wines to taste. I also thoroughly enjoyed their Chenin Blanc.

Accommodation
I checked into paradise at one of the cottages on the estate just a short drive from the tasting room. I stayed in a one-bedroom cottage equipped with a swimming pool, braai area and self-catering kitchen. There was a TV with selected DSTV channels but who would want to watch TV when you have views like this!
There are four cottages on the estate which can sleep 2 and up to 6 people.
I absolutely loved the fact that it was self-catering, equipped with everything you need to enjoy a hearty breakfast and even a sunset braai. Plus, if it is getting a bit chilly, there is an indoor fireplace too.
Did you know?
In January 2017, a fire completely devistated the Druk My Niet estate which completely destroyed the 2015 and 2017 vintages. Today, they have re-built and are needing all the support they can get.
In conclusion
I felt absolutely welcome at Druk My Niet and thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay. The views, hospitality and wine is world-class, wine country living. This winery is best for couples or families/friends of up to 6 people. Swimming costumes, braai vleis and lots of wine are a MUST! P.S. there are lots of frogs and crickets to sing you to sleep.
