30 000 flock to the annual SA Cheese Festival

The SA Cheese festival by Agri-Expo was launched in 2001 and went from attracting 3000 people, to the giant it is today attracting more than 30 000 people and selling over 30 tons of cheese! It is the biggest outdoor culinary event in Southern Africa and if you have never been, then you are definitely missing out!Tickets cost R180 per adult (including tasting glass) and children under 13 are free of charge. There are literally hundreds of exhibition stands showcasing the best food, wine and beverages South Africa has to offer.Probably the best part about this festival is the free tastings. Chunks of cheese by the likes of Simonsberg President and Ladismith.Mounds of olives by Willowcreek...And of course delicious, free flowing wine by the likes of Place in the Sun Wines. I really enjoyed their Cab Sauv which was great value for money! Place in the Sun wines is a relatively new brand and is one of the Fairtrade farms which are annually audited by FLO-CERT, to ensure transparency and reliability throughout the entire wine making process. The wine paired really well with these lemon, thyme and garlic infused olives by Willowcreek.Plus they had an interactive stand to take selfies...Speaking of entertainment, you certainly will be entertained by the likes of BlackByrd, Kurt Darren and Chef Nataniel. Plus the kids will enjoy seeing the animals and playing on the jumping castles. How cute is this balloon? To end it all off, I had to enjoy a delicious Artisan lolly from Las Paletas! And even though it started to rain, that didn't dampen anyone's spirit! You really are spoiled for choice and many go home with bags of goodies to stock their fridges - plus some even win themselves a car!So will I see you at the next festival?:)x
