Durbanville Wine Valley 200 Year Celebration Events 2025
Durbanville is turning 200 and this wine region, famous for Sauvignon Blanc, has decided to put on a special event to celebrate! Clear your calendar for Thursday, April 10th, and Friday, April 11th 2025.
Durbanville’s wine journey dates back to the 1700s, but it was officially recognised as a top-tier wine region in 1998 with the establishment of the Durbanville Wine Valley Association. Today, the valley is world-renowned for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, and Bordeaux-style blends.
With a unique mix of soils and microclimates and a cool climate location, Durbanville wines consistently deliver depth, complexity, and character, making it one of the most exciting wine regions in South Africa.
What To Expect
Expect nothing short of an indulgence as eleven leading wineries—including De Grendel, Durbanville Hills, Klein Roosboom, Nitida, Maastricht, Bloemendal, D'Aria, Canto, Meerendal, Diemersdal, and Groot Phesantekraal —will treat visitors to signature wines, rare vintages, and farm-fresh food pairings.
Even better? You’ll get the chance to meet the winemakers themselves and gain insight into what makes Durbanville’s terroir so special.
NEW! The Durbanville Wine Safari
If you’re keen to explore more than one winery in a single evening, the Durbanville Wine Safari has you covered! For the occasion, they’re running special evening tours on both their Northern and Southern routes on April 10th.
This means no stressing about driving as you hop between estates, enjoying the valley’s best wines, responsibly. The safari runs between 17:45 and 21:15, giving you plenty of time to sip, swirl, and savour at your leisure.
The Art Expo
Durbanville’s agricultural roots run deep, and this milestone celebration will boast a unique art exhibition featuring works from 15 local schools that will be on display at participating wineries.
Why Durbanville Should Be on Your Wine Radar
The Durbanville Wine Valley is about a 20-minute drive from Cape Town. Whether you're up for wine tastings, cellar tours, gourmet dining, or even a bit of hiking or cycling through the scenic landscapes, the valley is best suited to Sauvignon Blanc lovers and families with children.
